Club Gala 1 Report 2013
Ennerdale Leisure Centre, Hull

The first club championships of 2013 saw a massive turn out from the clubs swimmers, with all the clubs squads entering swimmers. The swimmers ages ranging from 8 years old up to 22 year olds. Head coach Pete Richardson was delighted with numbers that turned out to compete.
In the Girls 25m freestyle 7yrs and under category Amelia Rozenbroek took Gold and a 4 sec PB, Heidi Porter achieved a silver medal and a 3 sec pb and the bronze went to Eva Julian. In the 8yrs and over, gold went to Paniz Rajabalian with a 4 sec pb, Silver Amelia Collins, and bronze Poppy Croll. For Junior D swimmers we saw Eva May Lowery take gold, Morgan Gronow sliver and Caitlin Playle bronze.
Next we saw the boys, Cameron Gray gained the gold, Oliver Chapman, silver with a 2 sec pb and Greenacre took the bronze in the 7yrs and under age group. 8yrs and over William Brady took gold with a 2 sec pb silver went to Aiden Hall and Joel Barker took bronze.
Junior D Squad
Younger Junior D swimmers, gold and 2 sec improvement went to Evan Offen in an impressive time of 20.76, sliver went to Lewin Sharp and bronze was taken by Thomas Clapham. 25m Backstroke, Girls, Amelia Rozenbroek gained her 2nd gold of the day, Eva Julian, silver and Heidi Porter took the bronze with an impressive 9 sec pb, In the 7yrs and under age group.
Paniz Rajabalian also gained her 2nd gold of the day in the 8yrs and over group Amelia Collins took silver and Poppy Croll the bronze, narrowly beating Jorja Hutchinson who also gained an impressive pb of 9 secs.
In the Junior D category Caitlin Playle took the gold, Annie Lyon, silver and 2 sec pb, and bronze went to Anya Betts. Last we saw the boys in the 7yrs and under, Billy Greenacre took the gold, silver went to Oliver Chapman and Cameron Gray achieved a bronze. 8yrs and over, Jonny Hambly achieved his 1st gold medal, William Brady took silver and Charlie Matchett, gained bronze. Junior D boys, Evan Offen picked up his 2nd gold medal and new pb of the gala, Loyd Roustoby took silver and Isaac Blain achieved the bronze medal.
The first club gala of 2013 allowed many of the Junior D squad members to register their first times in both the 50m breaststroke and 200m front crawl. All members who took part gave a good account of themselves with outstanding swims by Clementine Lovel who gained a 2nd place in the 100m Individual Medley, 9th place in the 200m Open Front Crawl and 9th place in the 50m Breaststroke. Millie Roberts also swam well in the 50m Breaststroke posting a time of 59.83 seconds. Junior D boys also performed well on the day with Jack Beal finishing 5th in the 50m Breaststroke and Ben Sawden a good 3rd place and new PB in the 100m Individual Medley.
Abbey Feehally finished the 50m breaststroke in 1:06.47, and the 200m front crawl in 3:45.03 setting two new personal best by 8 seconds and 21 seconds respectively and Sophie Heatley swam the 200m front crawl in 3:53.34 which was a new personal best by 16 seconds.
Junior C Squad
The event opened with the girls 200m IM with Ellie Hextall (10) taking silver in the 11yrs/under category and a 10 year old Yorkshire Qualifying time. Megan Gray (10) took 4th place and YQT. Olivia Braimbridge (10) produced an excellent 14 second PB along with Katy Greenacre (10), who knocked 12 seconds off her personal best. PB's were also achieved by Lillie-May Wilkinson (10) and Ruby Willingham (10).
Katy Greenacre (10) took silver in the girls 11/under 100m Butterfly improving by 4 seconds. Lauren Barlow (11) swam her way to gold in the girls 100m IM with an excellent 9 second PB. Heather Barlow (10) took Bronze.
In the girls 200m Freestyle 11/under Ellie Hextall (10) walked away with silver in a YQT. Excellent PB'S were achieved by Maisie Foster (10) and Lillie-May Wilkinson (10), both improving by 21 seconds. Shona Thurston (10) clocked a 17 second PB and Ruby Willingham improved by 9 seconds.
Megan Gray (10) took silver in the Girls 11/under 50m Breaststroke achieving another YQT. Olivia Braimbridge took Bronze.
In the Boys 200m IM (11/under), Nathan Porter (11) achieved gold with an impressive 17 second PB; Alex Everson (10) took silver and Joshua Wormald (10) Bronze with an 8 second PB. Ryan Porter won gold in the Boys 100m IM securing an 8 second PB.
Alex Everson (10) achieved a well -deserved gold in the Boys 11/under 200m Freestyle with an excellent 14 second PB; Nathan Porter (11) took silver with a 10 second PB, and Cameron Offen (10) swam his way to bronze with a 2 second PB. Benjamin Shipley (10) clocked an impressive 10 second PB.
Joshua Wormald (10) excelled himself in the Boys 11/under 50m Breaststroke with a brilliant performance to take gold, missing out on a YQT only by 0.8 of a second. Alex Everson walked away with silver and Bejamin Shipley took Bronze.
Junior B Squad
Junior B continued to show real improvements. Lilly Hawkard continued her good form. Swimming in the 10/11 year age Lilly took the gold in 200m Individual medley in a time of 3.05.58. In the 100 butterfly it was gold again in a time of 1.26.09. In the 200 freestyle Lilly swam her way to a PB from the weekend before and took the bronze medal.
In the final race of the afternoon Lilly took her 3rd gold medal in the 50 breaststroke finishing in a time of 49.63 Jake Conlon continued to improve he gained 4 PB's and impressive feat as junior B only competed the weekend before . Jake swam his way to 3 bronze medals and 1 silver, gaining 2 more Yorkshire times in the process.
Jolie Bull was hoping to gain her Yorkshire time in the 200 free, needing to knock time off from the weekend before. After a determined swim she knocked 3 seconds off finishing in a time of 2.40.50, gaining her Yorkshire time and taking the gold medal as reward. Kennedy Akril swam in the 12/13 year age competing she had great swims , taking 5 seconds of in the 200 individual medley , 3 seconds of in the 50 breaststroke and finishing in a time of 1.26.69 in the 100m butterfly taking 5 seconds of her time. Emma Newmarch gained PB's in 100buttery and 50 breaststroke.
Lewis Collins swam in the 12/13 taking silver in the 200m individual medley in a new PB ,he took bronze in the 50 breaststroke and swam his way to silver in the 200 freestyle .
Junior A Squad
12 year old Jack Woodcock continued an impressive run of form this season by walking away with a clean sweep of wins and four gold medals. Starting with the 200m IM he swam a 2:44.43 and gained a four second pb, then achieved another personal best for the 200m frontcrawl in a time a 2:19.00. Completing his double brace of gold's in the 100m butterfly and 50m breaststroke finished off a highly successful day.
12 year old Darcey Hambly was in impressive form and also walked away with four medals from four events. A time of 2:42.31 for the 200m IM brought her gold and an NER qualifying time and a 42:72 was good enough for yet another in the 50m Breaststroke and a Yorkshire qualifying time. She then gained yet another NER time and a silver medal for the 200m frontcrawl and ended the gala with a silver in the 100m butterfly.
14 year old Hannah Willingham took silver medals for the 100m butterfly and 200m IM which resulted in her gaining a Yorkshire qualifying time. She swam to a bronze medal for her 200m frontcrawl and then was involved in one of the stand-out races of the day. In the 50m breaststroke Willingham came from behind in the closing stages of the race to take gold in an NER qualifying time of 37.37.
13 year old Melissa Machin swam to three bronze medals in the 200m IM, 200m frontcawl and 50m breaststroke and also gained a 6 second personal best for her 100m butterfly. 14 year old Elliot Stephenson took bronze medals for the 50m breaststroke and 200m frontcrawl in which he also gained a Yorkshire time. 11 year old Megan Batterbee posted some impressive personal best times throughout the gala, 10 seconds in both the 200m IM and 200m frontcrawl and 7 seconds in her remaining two races.
Regional squad also started the new year in good shape, leading the way was James Rodmell who took gold in the 100m butterfly and the 200m freestyle but was beaten into silver position by Danny Brown.
There where top three finishes for Karmand Kareem in the 200im and 100m butterfly, with brother Kaso also in the medals in the 100m fly event
There was good personnel best swims for Cesena Wild in the 200m im and 50m breaststroke. Amy Greenacre swimming in the12/13 year's age group had three swims improving her times in all three races.
