York City Regional Qualifier

Kingston upon Hull swimming club competed in the York city swimming clubs Regional qualifier meet, held at Ennerdale sport's centre. This was a strong meet with Swimmers competing from all over Yorkshire. All the swimmers from the squad took advantage to gain experience swimming against some of the best in the Region.
12 year old Natasha Clarke was the star from the Regional development squad taking advantage of her hard training to produce 6 personal best time's at the meet, Natasha produced her pb's in the 200m froncrawl,200m backstroke,100m frontcrawl,100m,backstroke,100m breaststroke and 50m free.
Medal's and placing came from Karmand Kareem (16) and Aaron Arksey (18) Karmand taking 2nd in the 200m backstroke and 3rd in the 200m frontcrawl with pb's in the 100m breast and 100m fly. Aaron produced a great swim in 100m backstroke taking 3rd place. 16 year old Sarah Barlow also improved her times, Sarah produced some great swims and her pb's came in the 100m and 200m frontcrawl, 100m back, 50m frontcrawl and 50m backstroke.
Also taking advantage of the meet was 12 year old Amy Greenacre, Natalie Moon (17), Zoe Webster (15), Alex Millington (12); Laura Bailes (13) Leoni Bull (12).Amy's pb's coming from all four stokes 200m back, 100m free, 50m fly and the 50m breast. Natalie was using this meet to warm up for the disability Nationals next month and secured pb's in 100m fc, 100m and 50m backstroke events.
Getting back to form was Zoe Webster, she produced 3 pbs, in the 100m back 50m free and 50m back, Also with three pb's was Alex Millington in the 100m breast, back and 100m free. Laura Bailes getting back to form removed 7 seconds from each of her 100m breast and 50m fly events. Leoni Bull improved times in the 200m free and 100m breast events.
Junior B squad where also in top form at the York gala achieving over 70 PB'S between them. The boys started the gala off in winning style with Lewis Collins taking the gold in the 200m IM. Ethan Kingdom gained an impressive 10 seconds PB despite been off training with a broken toe!! Callum Wright also knocked 10 seconds off his time, with Charlie Buccur close behind with 8 seconds off and Liam Spence with 5 seconds off. It was then the girls turn with 100m breast Emma Newmarch gained an 8 second PB, with Abbie Malton knocking 3 seconds off and Maddie Tait and Emily Wilkinson both gaining PB's. Jake Conlon swam his way to the gold in the 200 breast with a 3 second PB gaining his Yorkshire time to top it off. The boys were up next with 100 free with high hopes of Yorkshire times and PB's and they didn't disappoint. Lewis Collins took his second gold of the day, with Callum Wrights 3 second PB gaining him the bronze position.
The afternoon started with the girls 200 free with all that hard work in training paying off Emily Wilkinson knocked an impressive 9 seconds off her time, Maddie Tait wasn't far behind with a 7 second PB. Jolie Bulls 2 second improvement took her under 2.50.00 for the first time in the 200m free. Lily Hawkard gained her NER time in the 100 fly with Kennedy Akrill knocking a hard earned 4 seconds off her time.
The boys continued the winning form in the 100 back with Lewis Collins taking his 3rd gold with a new PB. Jake Conlan swam his way to an 8 second PB achieving his Yorkshire time and claiming the bronze medal for his efforts. The girls were up next in 200 back with Maddie Tate taking off a fantastic 12.5 seconds to gain her Yorkshire time. The Sunday started off with some fantastic PB's in the 200IM ,Emily Wilkinson knocked a fantastic 9.5 seconds off closely followed by Maddie Tait with 8.5 secs off and Jolie Bull with 8 seconds off. Jake Conlan was up next in the 400m IM and with all his team mates cheering him on he managed a whopping 50 second PB clinched a Yorkshire qualifying time and took the bronze medal , with Lewis Collins also impressing with his PB gaining him an NER qualifying time and his 4th gold medal. In the afternoon the boys were up in the 200m free Lewis Collins claimed his 5th gold medal with his new PB, while Callum Wright PB claimed him the bronze medal and a Yorkshire qualifying time Liam Spence knocked a fantastic 12 second off. Jake Conlan then swam in the 100 fly where an impressive 12 seconds was knocked off to take the bronze medal. The boys finished the gala on a high with Lewis Collins managing a clean sweep of gold's claiming his 6th gold in the 200m back with a new PB , Jake Conlan took 8 seconds off to gain another Yorkshire time.
