After three impressive weekends at the spring Yorkshire championships Kingston upon Hull swimming club have yet again cause to celebrate their swimmers success. The club which has a small army of highly skilled coaches are currently developing and nurturing the next crop top Olympic hopefuls with 10 year old Samuel Bailey been just one or those swimmers.

10 year old Bailey has just been awarded the accolade of top Yorkshire 10 year old swimmer from series of events held over three weekends at the spring Yorkshires. Points are awarded (bagcat points) to swimmers based on their best 50m (sprint), best individual medley swim, best distance swim and one other swim which is their highest finish swim irrespective of which event. The points are added up and the winner is top Yorkshire swimmer in their age group.

Sam who trains in the clubs age group 2 squad under the watchful eyes of coaches Mike Dervey and Paul Marritt was simply outstanding over the three weekend slicing huge amounts of time of his personal bests and coming home with a bag full of medals and awards.

Sam swan in ten events having nine to ten finishes with all nine of the swims qualifying him for the North East Region Championships later in the year. His best result came in the 200m freestyle where he clocked a time of 2.40.4 and took the Yorkshire County championship title. He backed this impressive swim with silver in the 200m backstroke 2.56.35 sec and bronze medal in the 50m backstroke 37.92 and a further bronze medal in the 50m freestyle in a time of 32.42.

Sam's talents don't finish there in between swimming four times a week he manages to fit in his football and plays for Sproatley juniors and also is a keen Hull Fc fan. Sam takes away the title of top 10 year old boy in the Yorkshire region and also won a £50 swimwear voucher for his achievements.
