Learning to swim is an important part of a childs development, but at the same time sessions should be fun
Learn To Swim
Our "Learn To Swim" lessons are held on a Sunday Afternoon at Winifred Holtby School and consists of 2 half hour sessions between 2.30 and 3.30 and places are by invitation only.
All of the coaches and volunteers teach in the pool with the children which makes it a very personal experience. The lessons are aimed primarily at 5 year olds who cannot swim, but we do take them up to the age of 7 and we keep the class sizes small. This makes it easier to look after the children when they are lacking in confidence in the water.
We treat our LTS program as feeder group for the clubs Tadpoles squad and once they reach the standard required they will be expected to move up and progress their skills.
The "Learn To Swim" sessions started approximately 20 years ago at Sydney Smith pool and moved to Winifred Holtby when Sydney Smith closed for a major refit and has been there ever since.
The aim of the LTS is to take non swimmers or those that are nervous in the water and get them to the standard to move in to the Tadpoles Squad.
We never advertise our sessions but have always managed to fill our classes by word of mouth.
We have over the years had various helpers. Libby Beadle was a regular at one time but we are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help with the LTS sessions and any older swimmers who are interested only have to ask.
Amy Beadle is a product of our Learn to Swim, and she along with Charlotte Oliver is helping out on a Sunday (gala's permitting)

Announcements
Annual Awards Night
The presentation evening will take place on Sunday 12th February 2012. It will be at Dene Park Sport and Social Club, Beverley Road Dunswell.
Tickets will be on sale soon priced £3.50 each, doors open 5.30 - 10.00pm.
Buffet, bar, raffle and disco to finish the evening so bring your dancing shoes.
We would hope that all our members can attend as it is the night of the year when we applaud all of our swimmers for their efforts over the past year.

New Menu Added
We have now added a "Medication" page to the "Swimmer Information" menu to help explain the potential hazards of taking medication whilst competing.
Please have a look as even the most innocuous medication could be on the banned list.
